Start gear performance (synchronised gearbox)

SOPS parameter StartGearPerformanceSynchronized · seen in 8 SOPS files

What it controls

Defines how aggressive the start-gear selection is on a synchronised Opticruise gearbox in performance mode: Normal picks the gear the calibration considers ideal, while the higher setting starts one gear higher to reduce the number of shifts on an empty or lightly loaded vehicle, and the lower setting starts one gear lower for heavy loads and steep yards. Bodybuilders of concrete mixers and refuse vehicles, which pull away fully loaded dozens of times a day, typically ask for the lower setting to protect the clutch. Vehicles with an unsynchronised gearbox use the separate StartGearPerformanceUnsynchronized parameter.
