Scania SOPS — the ECU configuration format
SOPS (Scania Onboard Product Specification) is the encrypted configuration format used by Scania's diagnostic software SDP3 to define how each ECU module behaves. Every Scania truck leaves the factory with a unique SOPS file that encodes its full specification — engine output, gearbox ratios, brake chamber types, exhaust system, retarder settings, equipment options, and hundreds of other parameters.
SDP3 exports this file as an encrypted binary with a .sops extension.
Internally, it contains XML-structured data organised by ECU block —
each block targeting a specific module (EMS, COO, EEC, BCM, GMS, ICL…)
with named parameters (<FP Name="…" Value="…" />).
Scania SOPS Editor decrypts these files, exposes all parameters in a
clean graphical interface, and re-encrypts them ready to flash back via SDP3.
Because the whole vehicle specification lives in this file, the same workflow covers function activation (PTO, performance modes, axle load display), reconfiguration after an ECU replacement and platform conversions.

The Advanced Mode is a SOPS XML editor with raw access for power users. The full Scania SOPS parameters list is public — search any parameter by name, module or platform.
