PTO EG1 — activation type

SOPS parameter PTO_EG1_ACT_TYPE · seen in 70 SOPS files

What it controls

Defines how the engine-driven power take-off EG1 is engaged on a Scania with the BWE bodywork electrical system. In the standard specification the PTO is engaged manually from the dashboard switch; bodybuilders often need the engagement to come from the body itself (a crane console, a tipper control or the bodywork interface BCI) so the operator never touches the cab switch. This is the first parameter to check when a PTO fitted after delivery does not engage: if the activation type does not match the wiring actually installed, the COO7/OPC5 will refuse the request without a fault code. Change it together with the dependency parameters below so the engagement conditions (park brake, neutral, engine speed) stay coherent.

Possible values

Manualseen in 70 files
The PTO engages from the cab switch only. Default on vehicles delivered with a factory PTO.
Remote
Engagement request comes from the bodywork interface (BCI/BWE inputs) — used by cranes, tippers and compactors.
Manual+Remote
Both the cab switch and the bodywork input can request the PTO.
Without
No EG1 PTO configured — the switch does nothing. Set this when the PTO is physically removed.

Frequently asked

Usually one of the engagement dependencies is not met: parking brake, gearbox in neutral or engine speed. Check PTO_EG1_PBRAKE_DEP, PTO_EG1_NEUTRAL_DEP and the engine-speed windows before suspecting the solenoid.
Yes, if the hardware is fitted. The SOPS specification must be updated so the coordinator knows the PTO exists — that is exactly what the PTO activation service does.
