Downhill speed control — default offset
SOPS parameter DHSC_DefaultOffset · seen in 81 SOPS files
What it controls
Speed offset in km/h above the cruise control set speed at which the downhill speed control starts braking, as applied by default when the driver activates the function. With a set speed of 80 km/h and an offset of 7, the retarder and exhaust brake intervene at 87 km/h and hold the vehicle there. A larger offset lets the vehicle gain more speed on descents (better fuel economy, more roll-out), a smaller one keeps the combination closer to the set speed for safety. The driver can adjust it within the limits given by the minimum offset. Typical factory values are 5–9 km/h.
