Downhill speed control — minimum offset
SOPS parameter DHSC_MinOffset · seen in 81 SOPS files
What it controls
The smallest offset in km/h above the cruise set speed that the driver can select for the downhill speed control. It prevents the auxiliary brakes from working continuously against the cruise control at almost the same speed, which would overheat the retarder on long descents and produce constant brake-light activation. Values of 3–5 km/h are usual. Fleets that carry dangerous goods sometimes request the minimum offset to be as low as allowed so the combination never exceeds the set speed by much; long-haul operators prefer a higher minimum for fuel economy. Set it below the default offset, never above.
